The fact that my wife, not a big eater, cleaned her plate of the omelet rancheros was a silent testament to that dish. The huevos rancheros were tasty and the refried beans were terrific. If you are looking for more bang for your breakfast buck, you can’t go wrong with Salsa Grill’s Mexican breakfast with coffee, served from 9 to 11 a.m., for $4.95. Salsa Grill has a kids’ menu that includes ice cream and soda and a choice of an enchilada, hamburger, pizza or chicken nuggets. I did clean my plate for lunch and probably could have had another three or four bites. I cannot imagine my super burrito being any larger, but I’m willing to give it a try. The dinner menu is much the same as the lunch menu, but with larger portions. Super nachos (with choice of meat), beef or chicken quesadilla, shrimp or fish ceviche or fiesta Mexicana (nachos, taquitos, quesadilla and hot wings) are also among the starters. Salsa Grill also has a nice appetizer menu, which includes oysters by the half dozen or dozen. The chicken mole could have used a little more spice to offset the overwhelming chocolate taste of the mole, but if you are a chocoholic, you probably will love this dish. Salsa Grill offers several combination plates along with fajitas, carne asada and chicken mole and seafood dishes. Salsa Grill also serves a vegetarian burrito, a bean and cheese burrito and a burrito Ensenada (seafood burrito for $8.95), which is covered with a special green sauce and cheese. I also had an outstanding super burrito ($7.95) filled with tasty pork, beans, cheese, lettuce and pico de gallo. The lunch special was only $5, including drink. It had that fried-fish taste but not deep-fried, which sometimes leaves you with a taste of batter that overwhelms the fish. The fish tacos, served with rice and beans and only available on Fridays, were delicious. I tried breakfast and then came back a week later for lunch. Salsa Grill, which opened last September in Burbank, is a keeper, whether you come for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
